AGRIMONY:
An
infusion of the leaves is used to treat ulcers,
diarrhea and as a diuretic. Topically applied,
it reduces skin problems such as athlete's foot,
cold sores, slow-healing wounds, and insect
bites.

ALOE:
The gel from the leaves is removed by stripping
the outer layer and the gel used to treat burns,
skin rashes, insect bites, chafed skin due to
abrasion (nipples during breastfeeding). Used to
promote better healing in salves, aloe draws out
infection already in the wound and prevents
infection of new wounds.

ANISE:
A mild herb aiding in the relief of colic, gas,
flatulence, indigestion, and aids in loosening
phlegm to relieve coughing in lung infections
due to colds or allergies when taken as a tea
additive. Added with bay leaves and used in a
bath or aroma therapy, anise promotes a sense of
well-being and stabilization to the emotional
balance.

BASIL:
Basil is used to treat stomach cramps, vomiting,
fevers, colds, headaches, severe coughing
(whooping cough), and menstrual pains. Also used
to reduce stomach acid, it is commonly added to
foods containing tomatoes. Externally, it can be
used to treat acne and clear up clogged skin
pores, as well as to draw out the poisons from
insect bites due to its astringent properties.

BERGAMOT:
Uplifting, refreshing and relaxing. Encourages
cheerful emotions, ideal for relief of tension,
stress and depression. A small amount blended
with tea leaves is useful in treating nausea and
vomiting, and for relief of catarrh due to
colds. Its delicate, sweet aroma can also be
used to freshen and uplift a room.

BLUE SHORT GRASS:
When dried and crushed it has numbing qualities
when topically applied around a wound.

BRAK BUSH:
Brak bush leaves, when chewed, have purgative
properties which cause severe stomach cramping
and vomiting.

BREEDING WINE:
A sweet wine which counteracts the effects of
sip root or slave wine, rendering the female
productive for impregnation. Also called second
wine.

"In the concentrated state, as in slave
wine, developed by the caste of physicians, the
effect is almost indefinite, usually requiring a
releaser for its remission, usually
administered, to a slave, in what is called the
breeding wine, or the 'second wine.' "

CAPTURE SCENT (Chloroform):
Chloroform is an anesthetic widely employed to
render its victims unconscious. A rag soaked
with the odorless liquid is held over the mouth
and nose, or a dart dipped into the liquid is
shot into the victim as an anesthetic dart.

CAYENNE PEPPER:
Cayenne is effective as a liniment or oil to
relieve muscle aches and tension. It will stop
bleeding both internally (drunk as a tea) and
externally (used as a powder or salve). Used
with antibiotic herbs to relieve menstrual
cramping and as part of a treatment for
depression. A small amount sprinkled into socks
or boots will warm the feet in cold months.

CEDARWOOD:
With a dry woody perfume this oil is ideal for
soothing, harmonizing and focusing the mind.
Antiseptic and astringent properties beneficial
to oily skin.

CHAMOMILE:
With its distinctive apple, herb aroma this oil
aids sleep and soothes tired muscles. It also
encourages emotional peace and calm with a
gently calming effect on mind, body and
emotions. An excellent oil for dry, sensitive
and allergic skins. Promotes sound sleep in
insomniacs.

CINNAMON:
Cinnamon can be added to other herbs to promote
a quick result for acute symptom relief. This
herb is a known stimulant for emotional well
being and also aids in the prevention of
infection. The oils are highly toxic when
ingested and are only added to oils for incense,
liniments and salves. The cinnamon nut can be
ground and sprinkled lightly on foods for
ingestion, or whole nuts can be added to
sachets.

CLARY SAGE:
Deeply relaxing and euphoric. Eases feelings of
depression and when feeling run down emotionally
and physically. Contains sensual properties and
has a nutty pervasive fragrance.

CLOVES:
Cloves provide a warm stimulation to the body
and is useful for treating cold extremities when
ground cloves are sprinkled inside socks or
gloves. Taken as a food additive or tea, cloves
promote sweating with fevers, cold and flu
symptoms. Added to sachets or a drop of oil for
atomizers, clove will aide in a sense of well
being and provide a stimulation to perk up the
emotions. Also known to aide in relieving upset
stomach and vomiting during pregnancy.

With a deep and luxurious floral perfume, this
oil is both soothing and uplifting, great when

EUCALYPTUS:
Well known camphoraceous aroma, stimulating and
cleansing especially in the winter months. A
powerful, penetrating antiseptic used to treat
gum disease and skin infections, and anti-viral
oil for sickrooms.

FENNEL:
Fennel is used to improve digestion, and reduce
the appetite by increasing the digestive system
functions. A common side effect of fennel is an
increase in the flow of milk for lactating
women.

FRANKINCENSE:
Aids meditation, fortifies and quiets the mind.
Encourages feelings of well being. Also contains
antiseptic properties and is used in salves and
liniments for minor wound care. A haunting and
resinous aroma.

FROBICAIN:
A sedative injection used during Voyages of
Acquisition to render a captured barbarian
unconscious.

GERANIUM:
Sustaining, relaxing and restoring. It has a
strong strengthening effect, balances emotions
and raises energy reserves while soothing mind
and body when used as a tea or in aroma therapy.
Balances sebum imperfections and is therefore
suitable for all skin types. Has a penetrating
floral perfume.

GIERON:
A drug, an allergen, which causes a yellowing of
the whites of the eyes; in combination with
sajel, it reproduces the symptoms of the Bazi
Plague.

GINGER:
Ginger is ground and used as a food additive or
in small amounts in tea to strengthen and heal
the respiratory system. It removes congestion
from the respiratory system, soothes sore
throats, relieves headaches and body aches. When
blended with other herbs, it enhances their
effectiveness. Also assists in relieving nausea
of pregnancy and motion sickness.

GOLDENSEAL POWDER:
Goldenseal, when dried and ground into a powder,
can be used as a natural antibiotic and
coagulant for topical wound care. When used in a
salve with other herbs, it enhances their own
medicinal properties.

GRAPEFRUIT:
Refreshing and reviving, especially when feeling
down. This oil clears the mind and uplifts the
spirits. A sharp, clear citrus fragrance.

HEALING SALVE:
An antibiotic ointment created by the Priest
Kings.

HONEY:
Honey contains natural antibiotics when
applied topically to wounds, promoting faster
healing. Commonly used as a sweetener in foods
and teas, honey aids in digestion.

HOPS:
Hops are generally used as a sedative and
useful in treating insomnia and nervous
tension. Generally, hops are used in brewing
beer and ales. External application in a salve
is used to treat itching skin from rashes and
hives.

HYSSOP:
Hyssop leaves can be used in a tea to soothe
sore throats. When applied to a minor wounds,
the antiseptic and drawing properties aide in
healing and inhibiting the spread of
contagious sores (cold sores).

JASMINE ABSOLUTE:
Jasmine blossoms can be used in a tea for its
calming effect on the nervous system. The
heady, exotic perfume uplifts and nurtures as
well as boosts confidence. An emotionally
warming sensual oil. Useful as an
antidepressant, for post-natal recovery and
also a good skin tonic.

JUNIPER BERRY:
Purifying, eliminating with a clear woody
aroma. This oil clears emotional overload and
helps to cleanse the body of impurities. A
great tonic for oily or congested skin,
athlete's foot and dandruff when used as a
compress or poultice. Juniper is also high in
natural insulin and aids in the absorption and
breakdown of sugars and starches.

KANDA:
Kanda is a shrub of the Gorean desert; a
lethal poison can be extracted from its roots;
chewing the leaves has an addictive narcotic
effect; a strong narcotic that has no
medicinal purpose due to its addictive and
toxic properties by the RGCP.

LARMA (APPLES):
Apples and apple juice can be used to treat
constipation. The pectin in fresh apples can
help lower cholesterol levels, aiding in
treating heart disease. Crushed apple leaves,
when applied to a fresh wound, helps prevent
wound infection. Apple blossoms can be used to
encourage youthful emotional balance and a
sense of cheeriness with its refreshing, clean
uplifting scent.

LAVENDER:
Clear light flowery aroma, versatile oil for
relaxing and balancing for mind and body when
used as an incense or sachet. Aids in sleep,
soothes tired muscles, benefits the immune
system, encourages stillness and tranquility.
Used as an antidepressant and for its
antiseptic qualities. Lavender is useful for
the skin ailments such as contact dermatitis
(rash), athlete's foot.

LIME:
An uplifting, energizing oil with a sweet
fragrance. Uplifts and restores vigor, aiding
recovery during convalescence. Has an

MANDARIN:
Fruity, tangy citrus perfume with a gently
cheering effect, aiding youthful thoughts and
feelings. Soothing effect upon the digestive
system. Can be used in pregnancy with neroli
to avoid stretch marks.

MARJORAM:
A warm and spicy aroma with warm comforting
tones. Eases loneliness and grief, relaxing
for muscles especially after sport or work.

MULLEIN:
Mullein is a narcotic herb that is neither
addictive nor poisonous, often used as a pain
killer and to aide with sleep associated with
somatic distress. Also used to loosen mucous
and treat lung ailments.

NEROLI:
A haunting bitter sweet aroma, very relaxing
and soothing. Brings feelings of peace. Good
for ageing, dry and sensitive skin and
balancing in times of shock and hysteria.

NETTLE LEAVES (STINGING NETTLE):
Taken internally, teas made with stinging
nettle provide a high source of iron and is
used to treat anemia, fatigue, edema,
menstrual difficulties, cleanse the urinary
tract, and relieve symptoms of hay fever and
allergies with its capacity to reduce
inflammation. The spiny needles are toxic to
flesh.

NUTMEG:
Nutmeg can be used to relieve chronic
nervousness and anxiety disorders when added
to a sachet or oil for aroma therapy. Taken as
a food additive or spice, it aids in better
digestion and relieves nausea.

while promoting clear thought. Helps all skin

and soothes the emotions, acts as a sedative
on the digestive system, aids in muscle
relaxation, relieves tired feet and mind. A

RAMBERRY (RASPBERRY):
Red ramberries are used during pregnancy to
strengthen the uterine wall, reduce the chance
of false labor pains, and reduce the pain of
childbirth. After childbirth, it is used to
decrease uterine swelling and post-partum
bleeding. Also useful to ease menstrual
cramping, vomiting in small children, and
diarrhea in infants.

ROSEMARY:
A powerful mental stimulant which aids in
normalizing blood pressure, increasing memory
and concentration, restores vitality and
invigorates, and has a warming effect on tired
and overworked muscles. It has a stimulating
effect on the nerves and is beneficial for
nervous disorders, including anxiety,
hysteria, shock and psychosomatic paralysis.
Helpful when overworked, with a refreshing
herbal-woody fragrance.

ROSEWOOD:
Grounding, balancing and reviving, stabilizing
and comforting to the emotions. A great oil to
steady the mind, ideal for exams. Seductive
floral woody perfume.

SAGE:
Sage, added to tea, is used to relieve excess
mucous in the respiratory system, and relieves
mental exhaustion by strengthening the ability
to concentrate. When used in a salve, it aids
in healing skin eruptions (contact rash) and
provides mild congealing properties on open
cuts. Combined with peppermint, rosemary and
betony, sage assists as an excellent headache
remedy.

SAJEL:
A drug which causes harmless pustules to erupt
on the body; in combination with gieron, it
reproduces the symptoms of the Bazi Plague.

SANDALWOOD:
A relaxing and meditative oil with sensual
properties, soothing and comforting to body
and mind. Encourages feelings of well being
and emotional balance. Helps ageing, and to
soothe dry and itchy skin. Sweet woody
fragrance.

SIP ROOT (SLAVE WINE):
A bitter root whose extract is the active
ingredient in slave wine; Red Savages make
their slaves chew the root as a means of birth
control. Slave wine is a concentrated extract
and yields a black, bitter beverage that acts
as a contraceptive; its effect are
instantaneous and lasts almost indefinitely,
although it is customary to renew the taking
of slave wine on the yearly anniversary of a
slave's collaring in the latter books. The
initial references to sip root and slave wine
show it was given to a slave each month to
renew its contraceptive properties.

SLEEPING POWDER:
An amber fluid; added water and shaken where
it turns a dark blue. Renders the consumer
unconscious within minutes.

Spearmint is a valuable herb used to stop
vomiting with its calming effects. The oils
extracted from spearmint leaves can be used to
aide in relieving congestion caused by colds
or allergies by reducing the inflammation of
the sinuses, nasal passages and bronchial
airways.

STABILIZATION SERUMS:
A series of medical injections, which among
other things, retards the aging process which
is defined as a disease; an invention of the
Priest-Kings, approved by them for use by
humans. Administered in four injections into
the lower left side of the spine above the
hip.

TASSA POWDER:
A reddish powder, usually mixed with red wine,
which renders the consumer unconscious.

TEA TREE:
An effective oil with powerful antiseptic
properties benefits the immune system,
disinfects and de-odorizes, strengthens the
immune system, especially during the winter
months and convalescence. Very helpful in skin
care and currently very popular for a number
of uses.

TESLIK:
A plant whose extract is the active ingredient
in breeding wine, counteracting the effects of
sip root or slave wine and enhancing
fertilization of women.

THYME:
A stimulating, protecting oil that has a
strengthening effect on the the nerves. Ideal
for the treatment of exhaustion, both physical
and mental, with its properties to increase
iron in the blood. A help to the immune system
with antiseptic and antifungal properties,
thyme is used against tooth decay, athlete's
foot and skin parasites (crab and lice). Warms
with its pungent herbal aroma.

TOSPIT (LEMON):
Refreshes and cools bringing clarity to mind
and emotions restoring vitality, acting as a
tonic to the circulatory system. Has
beneficial effects on the immune system, is
cleansing on the skin.

TRUTH SERUM:
A liquid mixed in a drink which places the
consumer in an hypnotic state, capable of
verbally responding without being able to hold
back information.

VALERIAN
ROOT:
Valerian root tea is used as a tranquilizer,
relaxant and is effective in cases of insomnia
or anxiety/panic relief with no residual
sluggish after effects. Valerian is useful for
nervous tension, pain relief, insomnia,
lowering blood pressure, menstrual cramping,
and muscle spasms.

WILLOW BARK:
A mild infusion of willow bark in hot water
and ingested as a tea provides an aspirin-like
pain relief. A drop or two added to cool water
can be used as an eyewash for common eye
infections or inflammation (conjunctivitis,
pink eye, sties, inflammation from
dirt/foreign objects).

YARROW ROOT:
Yarrow root can be used as a contraceptive
when ingested, as well as used for relief from
gum ailments and toothaches. The root, when
ground and dried, can be sprinkled over open
wounds to arrest external bleeding.

YELLOW POWDER:
A concentrate of brak bush used as a laxative
and diarrheic.

YLANG YLANG:
An exotic and sensual oil with relaxing
qualities. Soothes and uplifts and has a
regulating effect on excited and nervous
conditions. Good for both oily and dry skin.
